The Ireland Tertiary Education System consists of total seven universities, four publicly-funded and three private. Both the types of universities puts forward a plethora of degree and diploma courses in multiple fields like arts, business, education, engineering, law, medical, and sciences.
The second type of tertiary education is through institutes of technology. There are 14 institutes of technology located throughout the country. They offer a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, diplomas, and certificate programs in different areas of study.
The third type in tertiary education in Ireland revolves around private colleges that are often owned and managed by religious orders and allow students to pursue courses in fields like business, hospitality, health, nursing, and engineering.

Eligibility Criteria For Aspiring Students

One has to demonstrate English language proficiency. Depending upon the course, he/she has to undergo tests like IELTS and TOEFL and secure the minimum required score.
Fulfilling academic requirements like scoring minimum and more than 75% in 12th class and 60% in Master’s to pursue bachelor’s/master’s and doctoral programs, respectively.
Securing a suitable Ireland student visa. Students opting for a 90 days duration program shall obtain C study visa. Students wanting to pursue courses of more than 3 months need to apply for D study visa.
Collecting and submitting other important documents. Including medical insurance, letter of acceptance by the choice of university, proof of sufficient funds, tuition and registration fee payment proof, etc.

Students have to appear for English Language Proficiency Tests like IELTS (minimum score required- 5.0-6.5), TOEFL (average score required- 80-92), PTE (minimum score required- 63), DET (accepted by Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, University College Cork, and University of Limerick with a minimum scorecard of 110 in each section), GMAT (specifically to pursue MBA in Ireland with an average scorecard of 650), HPAT (specifically to pursue healthcare programs in Ireland like medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, physiotherapy and occupational therapy).

For students seeking master's degrees from Irish institutions, they need a graduation grade of 55%-75% and an IELTS score of 6.5. There are also some selective universities that accept IELTS scores of 5.5.
